Introducing Teighan Govett

Teighan Govett is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with 18+ years of experience supporting individuals and families across a wide range of complex and challenging settings. Her work has taken her through Youth Justice, family services, family law programs, oncology, sexual assault, and mental health settings. This extensive experience has provided her with a deep understanding of trauma, grief, family dynamics, systemic pressures, and the ways emotional distress can manifest across different life stages.

As an accredited practitioner, Teighan provides psychotherapy informed by evidence-based interventions and a client-centered approach. Her aim is to create a safe, collaborative space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and relationships, develop insight, and build skills for sustainable change.

Therapeutic Approaches

Teighan draws on a range of therapeutic modalities tailored to each individual’s needs, including:

  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma processing

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for managing anxiety, depression, and negative thought patterns

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness

  • Gottman Level 2 couples Therapy to strengthen communication and connection in relationships

  • Hypnotherapy for habit change, anxiety management, and guided self-exploration

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma-focused cognitive restructuring

Teighan integrates these approaches flexibly, drawing on her extensive experience to match the treatment to your unique circumstances, preferences, and goals. This combination of clinical expertise and practical experience allows her to support clients in overcoming challenges, processing difficult experiences, and building resilience.

Family Dispute Resolution (FDR)

In addition to psychotherapy, Teighan is an accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner in line with Australian FDR standards. FDR is a structured, child-focused process designed to help families—particularly parents—resolve disputes and reach practical agreements without court intervention.

In this role, Teighan provide a safe, neutral, and respectful process that supports participants to communicate effectively, identify areas of disagreement, and work toward mutually acceptable solutions. FDR is facilitative, with a strong focus on fairness, safety, and the best interests of children. Teighan also handles screening, safety assessments, and, where necessary, provide the relevant certificates under Australian family law.
